Introduction to Addition

Addition is when we combine groups of things together to find the total.

When we add, we are finding out how many things there are altogether. It's like putting things together in one big group.

In real life, we use addition all the time:

• Counting how many toys you have
• Finding the total number of students in class
• Counting how many apples are in a basket
