Equations Are Like Balance Scales!
The best way to understand equations is to think of them like a balance scale!
A balance scale has two sides. When both sides have the same weight, the scale is balanced and level.
Equations work the same way - both sides of the equal sign must have the same value to be balanced!
Just like a balance scale:
- If both sides are equal → Balanced ⚖️
- If one side is heavier → Tips to that side 📏
- We want to keep equations balanced
- Both sides must have the same value
