True or False Equations
Now that we understand the equal sign, we can check if equations are true or false!
An equation is TRUE when both sides are equal (the same). An equation is FALSE when the sides are not equal (different).
We can check equations by solving both sides and comparing them!
To check if an equation is true or false:
- Look at the left side
- Look at the right side
- Check if they are the same
- If same = TRUE, if different = FALSE
Examples
3 + 2=5
TRUE
3 + 2 = 5 ✓
2 + 1=5
FALSE
2 + 1 = 3, not 5 ✗
